The client already had a working, well-indexed store, but both the code and the design were outdated. The brief was a full refactoring: a modern design, a move to a current PHP framework, an easy admin panel, and payment and shipping options for US orders. The key condition was not to lose search positions during the move.
Style
The design keeps the brand’s original colours: a yellow-to-orange gradient in the side menu, a green header and large photos of cars wearing the decals. Montserrat with wide uppercase headings.
Mobile version
On phones the side catalogue moves into the menu, category tiles switch to two columns, and sorting and filters open from their own buttons.
Tasks
- 01Refresh the designCreate a modern design based on the brand’s original colours and build it responsive.
- 02Move the code to a frameworkRewrite the store from legacy code on the current PHP framework Yii 2.
- 03Build a usable adminGive the client’s team one panel for content, products and orders.
- 04Add payments and shippingSet up payment and shipping options for orders shipped to the US.
- 05Keep and grow search rankingsMigrate the indexed site without losing traffic, then keep working on its SEO.
Key solutions
Catalogue and filters
Filter by car model, sorting by price, popularity and date, grid or list view, and a choice of items per page. The five most popular categories sit in the sidebar.
Product page and quick view
Quick view opens a product over the catalogue: pick a custom colour or finish, or tick “as in the photo”. The full page adds the description, reviews and related products.
Cart and checkout
A cart with promo codes and a short checkout: after sign-up the fields fill in automatically. Payment via PayPal and Authorize.Net.
Customer account
Previews of all orders and a detailed history, PDF invoices, saved shipping addresses and a personal discount. Orders can be tracked by tracking number right on the site.
Admin panel
A Yii 2 admin with a home page builder and contact form builder, order management, product creation, editing and cloning, and shipping modules.
Migration without SEO loss, then SEO
We carried over the core of the database: order history, customers, products and their options. Product and image URLs were kept, the old domain got 301 redirects to the new one, and analytics was set up.
